- Born in Madrid in 1970. She studied engraving at the School of Applied Arts and Artistic Crafts in Madrid. In 1992 she began making her first engravings and in 1995 she settled in her own workshop. She has been participating in Estampa since 1995, where her work is part of the group exhibition every year. In recent years, her international projection has been remarkable. Her work has been present at The Affordable Art Fair (AFF) in Milan, New York, London, and Brussels. Her curriculum vitae includes solo exhibitions in Shanghai, Hong Kong, and group exhibitions in Frankfurt, among others. Primitive, abstract, impulsive, balanced, are words that can explain both the process of creation and the final result reflected in her engravings. In her work the lines have a leading role. It is a simple element that allows her to create images that can transmit different sensations, from calm to agitation, depending on the forcefulness and shape of the stroke. In 2011, she began experimenting with oil and took back the zinc and wood carvings from the beginning of her career. The result of this new stage was the solo exhibition “Dualidad” which she presented in Brussels in June. The energy and strength of her strokes continue to be present in this new path undertaken by Ana Alberca.
