El tiempo de los valientes

The braves you will find here are not detached from fear or fragility, but are vulnerable lives that have the ability to respond to absurdity, to daily tragedies, or to emptiness through the most heroic act: the impulse of life; of a life considered as an individual and collective journey. The braves are a positive mutation of that malignant cell towards which today’s world tends. The braves are the only cure for themselves and for universal pain. That’s why my models are the people I love, some of them have been always there and others I fell in love with precisely because of that ability. They are generous, they strip naked and show their dreams and weaknesses, their dignity and their wounds to become a bit of each one of us, as archetypes not only of what we are but of what we want to be, always better, always with a bit more of the best of the one who knows how to look at us and who we look at. I seek the sharpness of the feeling, the truth of each one of these stories, contained in the fleetingness of an instant that I strive to catch with the same attributes of those portrayed here, courage, and lots of love. And I think that the look is also an act of courage. That’s why I strive to keep my eyes open and instantly wink as if I looked through the eye of a needle. Ana Matías
